This route created myth that Kilimanjaro is in Kenya. It was formerly used by the East African Outward bound school to train climbers. Some years back it was being used illegally by visitors from the Kenyan border to climb the Mountain there by leading to the misconception that Kilimanjaro is in Kenya. It is a gentle climb right from the beginning and commences from the Kenya and Tanzanian border 1600 sea level.
