OPTION 1: DAY TRIP TO MAASAI BOMA – ARUSHA

HALF DAY & FULL DAY CULTURAL IMMERSION

Itinerary:

8:00 AM – Pickup from your hotel in Arusha. Drive to authentic Maasai Boma (village) in Monduli / Longido / near Tarangire border (1.5 hrs drive) – Real village, not fake market boma.

10:00 AM – Welcome Ceremony – Karibu!
– Traditional welcome by Maasai Elders and Morans (warriors) with chanting and jumping dance – Adumu
– Blessing ceremony with elders

10:30 AM – Activities Guest Will DIRECTLY Participate In:

1. Wear Maasai Traditional Clothes & Beadwork
– Guest will wear beautiful Shuka (red blanket), bead necklaces, bracelets – Take photos like Maasai queen/king
– Learn meaning of every color: Red = bravery, Blue = sky, White = purity, Orange = hospitality

2. Manyatta Building – Build Maasai House
– Direct participation with Maasai women to build traditional house using sticks, mud, cow dung – Learn architecture

3. Beadwork Workshop with Maasai Mamas
– Sit with mamas and make your own bracelet / necklace using beads – You take it home as souvenir! Learn meaning of bead patterns

4. Fire Making & Warrior Training with Morans
– Learn to make fire using sticks (no match!) – Direct participation
– Throw traditional spear and shoot bow & arrow with warriors
– Learn Adumu jumping dance – Jump high with morans competition

5. Milking Cows, Goats & Blood Drinking Tradition
– Milk cows and goats with your hands – Direct participation
– Learn about cow blood tradition (optional to taste – not compulsory) – Sacred tradition for strength

6. Traditional Cooking & Eating Together
– Cook traditional food with mamas: Ugali, grilled goat meat (Nyama Choma), milk, herbs
– Eat together inside Manyatta – Real experience

7. Village Life & School Visit
– Visit Maasai kids school, learn counting in Maa language
– Visit local market, meet village chief, hear Maasai history and stories

2:00 PM – Picnic Lunch – Maasai style with local food

3:00 PM – Farewell Dance & Market
– Buy authentic beadwork directly from mamas (cheaper than Arusha shops – support women)
– Farewell dancing

4:00 PM – Drive back to Arusha – Drop-off at hotel 5:30 PM

OPTION 2: 2 DAYS MAASAI BOMA IMMERSION – LIVE WITH MAASAI

Itinerary:

DAY 1: Arusha to Maasai Boma – Full Immersion
8:00 AM Pickup Arusha. Drive to Maasai Boma (Monduli). Welcome ceremony as above.

Activities Day 1 – Guest DIRECT Participation:
– Wear Maasai clothes, beadwork workshop – make your own necklace to take home
– Build Manyatta house with women
– Herd cows and goats to grazing fields with morans (3 hrs walk in savannah) – Real herding!
– Milk cows in evening
– Warrior training – spear throwing, fire making, Adumu dance at sunset
– Night: Traditional dinner around bonfire, Maasai storytelling under stars, learn Maa language, sleep in traditional Manyatta (or upgraded comfort tent with bed – guest choice). Hear lions roaring far away – Very exciting!

Overnight: AUTHENTIC MAASAI BOMA – Traditional Manyatta OR Comfort Safari Tent with bed – Full Board – Real experience, private, safe, Maasai guards all night, clean mattress, blanket, solar light, bucket shower

DAY 2: Morning With Maasai – Back to Arusha
5:30 AM Wake up with Maasai – Milk cows, take goats out for grazing at sunrise with warriors – Beautiful sunrise in savannah.

Breakfast with family. Participate in morning village chores: Fetch water with women, make beads, learn herbal medicine from Laibon (witch doctor).

10:00 AM Farewell ceremony – You get Maasai name! Certificate of Maasai friendship.

11:00 AM Drive back to Arusha – Drop-off 12:30 PM. You can connect to safari or flight.
