LEGAL AID WORK EXPERIENCE IN TANZANIA

You’ll gain unique and very valuable experience in your chosen field, in a culture different to your own, with its own ways of doing things.

You’ll discover that learning is a two-way street and that you’ll be able to contribute to their knowledge as well as gain knowledge from them.

Our work experience placements will give you practical work experience in an exotic environment, as well as being a valuable entry on your CV.

Requirements You should be in your 2nd year of a Law degree or qualified.
Price From US $1,200 for 4 weeks, ranging to US $2,400 for 12 weeks.

PLACEMENT OVERVIEW:
You can work with a legal practice in Tanzania giving you the opportunity to get exposure to all aspects of legal practice and gain experience in the day-to-day running of a Tanzanian law practice. If you are going to specialize in a particular area of law, the law firm will be more than happy to take this into consideration during your program placement.

Tanzanian law follows common law, which is based on the British system. During the placement, you will be given plenty of opportunity to visit the Tanzanian Courts and observe how they function. Cases could range from civil and criminal law to convincing, Probate and property law. If you’re interested in Human Rights law, you should be exposed to quite a lot of it in this practice.

As with all our Work Experience placements, this placement is tailored to suit your specific requirements to ensure you gain the maximum benefit and experience. We’ll have detailed discussions with you to ascertain what you’re looking for then we’ll try to tailor the programme for you.

Within the firm, the lawyers specialize in their own areas. Their area of expertise and areas in which you may get the chance to work in includes:

  • Investment: Legal advice on investment in Tanzania, co-ordination with consultants and analysts for comprehensive investment project planning, liaison with Tanzania investment promotion centre etc.
  • Corporate Practice: Structure and incorporation of companies, partnerships and joint ventures
  • Commercial: Negotiation and drafting of tender documents and management contracts, registration of copyright, patent and trade marks and dispute resolution for international trade finance, telecommunication, shipping timber, agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality industries and major infrastructure projects.
  • Industrial Relations: Industrial disputes resolution, drafting of service. Agreement negotiation of CBAs, employee share ownership programmes, welfare schemes and superannuation.
  • Banking and Financing: Negotiation and drafting of international and local loan agreements, debentures and securities. Acquisition of banking and financing licenses. Provision of legal financial service companies.
  • Conveyancing: Investigation of Land Title negotiation and drafting of leases and other property interest, registration of land titles and litigations. Urban regeneration schemes, location of industrial and residential properties for clients on request.
  • Natural Resources and Energy: Based on our experience with power, mining, petroleum, water and forestry rights and regulatory regimes and practices both in Ghana and in other producing countries, we are able to guide investors in making key decisions about natural resource investment in Tanzania.
  • Environmental: Environmental consciousness in Tanzania is growing rapidly. Regulatory practices in this area are increasingly vigorous but not yet very systematic. Our expertise in planning compliance is valuable to all investors

RADIO JOURNALISM & PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP IN TANZANIA

A unique opportunity to be part of an exciting radio team in the heart of Accra. You’ll observe experts in the field of Radio/Journalism and learn how they work in Tanzania. Working in a structured Work Experience placement in the developing world, plus the experience you gain, will be an excellent entry on your CV or Résumé.

The station works on news and entertainment. If you have past radio experience, then it is likely you will have plenty of freedom to express ideas and create your own work assignments. You could find yourself involved with preparing news stories and researching and editing features.

Be prepared for a lot of work, the station is very fast-paced by African standards. Because the radio station has a small team with such a large reputation, you’ll find yourself working many hours in a dynamic environment during your placement.

For people who have a passion for radio this is definitely the placement to give you great experience.
The station works on news and entertainment. If you have past radio experience, then it is likely you will have plenty of freedom to express ideas and create your own work assignments. You could find yourself involved with preparing news stories and researching and editing features.

In production and broadcasting there is also the opportunity to do initial reporting, writing, voice-overs, and depending on your past experience and how you demonstrate yourself, you could also be broadcasting the final story.

This placement is well suited for people with a passion for web design and will enable you to utilize your programming skills or/and graphic skills with one of the most dynamic multi-media firms in East Africa.
The company you’ll work with was established in 2004. The company specializes in high quality corporate web design, a re-design of your website, online website maintenance, an interactive website or an ecommerce website; they set out to deliver EXACTLY what it is you’re looking for.

The company handles the accounts of very influential personalities in Tanzania. You will be managing the contents of client’s websites. You will work Monday to Friday, and it is very challenging work. During your project, you could find yourself using a number of different tools and environments.

  • You get real responsibility on projects once you’re familiar with the software/hardware/programming languages that CS uses. Though you’re not just thrown into the deep end, Robin (my manager) is always willing to help out with any problems.
  • Since this placement is in Ghana, the atmosphere at CS is very laid back. I love it! The work colleagues in the office are all very friendly too.
