Itinerary

Day 1Kampala – Kibale National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park with lunch en-route. Kibale National Park is one of the most beautiful and stunning forests in Uganda. It is home tour closest relative – the endangered Chimpanzee. The forest also boasts of having one of the highest diversity and density of primates in Africa totaling 13 species that include the threatened Red Colobus monkey, l’hoesti monkey Blue monkey, Grey Cheeked, Velvet and the Black / White Colobus monkeys. An afternoon visit to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary and guided walk around the Magombe Swamp provides you with the opportunity to see a wide range of flora and fauna. Overnight Ndali Lodge /Primate Lodge/Chimp Nest lodge/ Toro Resort.

Day 2Kibale National Park

Rise early and report at Kanyanchu Tourist Centre for briefing prior to setting off to track Chimpanzees in the forest. Chances of viewing the Chimps are over 90% but not a guarantee.

This morning you will not only search for families of chimpanzee but other primates as well. After lunch, drive to Nyakasura where you will be able to see stalagmites and Stalactites that are locally referred to as “Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru”.   Dinner and over night.

Day 3Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. You will drive along the Rwenzori ranges and Savanna grasslands. Queen Elizabeth National park boasts of a variety of big game like; lions, elephants, buffaloes, Hyenas, Hippos, bushbucks, the comical warthogs and rare / elusive leopards Before sunrise embark on an early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. You will most likely to meet grazing Hippos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, bushbucks, waterbucks, the elusive leopard and of course the several warthogs.

Lunch break then drive to the dock on the channel for an afternoon launch cruise on Kazinga channel that joins Lakes Edward and George. It is a waterway that is filled with schools of hippos and elephants, buffalos which can be seen at the banks. There is also a rich variety of birds on the channel. Dinner and overnight Jacana Mweya Safari Lodge / Ecology Institute hostel.

Day 4Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast carry game drive or do chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura gorge+ choose one activity After the chosen activity  drive to Bwindi Forest National park via Ishasha – the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National park. This area is famous for the tree climbing lions, which with luck may be spotted on the large fig trees.
This drive to Bwindi takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment. Bwindi National park is home of the rare mountain gorillas and other primates.

Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates that may be seen. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it.
Check in at Bwindi Lodge /Kitandara/ Mantana/ Buhoma Community Rest Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast set off early with your guides to track the gorillas.  gorilla tracking  The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities.   Gorilla trekking  Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming, and resting as the youngsters’ frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display.

The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rainforest, so ancient that survived the last ice age. gorilla tour A recently proclaimed world heritage site, its one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number about 600. There is also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together. Return to camp exhilarated to relieve the encounter with friends over a drink. Dinner and overnight Buhoma Homestead / Buhoma Community Rest Camp.

Day 07Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Kabale (Lake Bunyonyi)

After breakfast, transfer to Kabale where you will have your lunch.  Take on an afternoon boat ride to some of the islands on the lake. The boat ride is most likely to yield sightings of rare bird species. Have the evening at leisure as you enjoy the scenic lake Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight at Heritage Lodge/ Bushara Island Camp / Bunyonyi Overland Resort.

Day 08Lake Bunyonyi Kabale – Kampala.

After breakfast, return to Kampala with lunch en-route. Along the way, you will be able to see banana plantations, Ankole long-horned cattle. Stopover at the Mpambire local drum makers or at any crafts display centre for souvenirs before proceeding to Kampala. Discover Uganda the Pearl of Africa
